I very much enjoy and appreciate the space it sits in - somewhere between game and film, but with actual gameplay - even if it's easy. I wish there weren't the hanged men and the giants' corpses, or I'd be excited to let my 8 year old play it. Beats the hell out of double fisting WASD and arrow keys. It was (coincidentally) absolutely made for the Switch - whether one or two players. I wish I owned it on Switch instead of PC. My wife was searching for games she might like and found it, and I was like, "I'm pretty sure I own that," lol. I got it years ago, back when you could get five good stale games for a buck from Humble, lol. I had to man the controls any time anything interesting was going on and, while it's not particularly challenging, it is kind of a mindfuck sometimes coordinating the two characters. I just played this game w my wife who is emphatically not a gamer. Whether it's price, waiting for bugs/issues to be patched, DLC to be released, don't meet the system requirements, or just haven't had the time to keep up with the latest releases. And I’m still writing here! Time is a flat circle.A gaming sub free from the hype and oversaturation of current releases, catering to gamers who wait at least 12 months after release to play a game. It’s still getting re-released all these years later. Free from the dual-stick control scheme, Brothers seems like it’d be just another cooperative puzzle adventure game.ĭestructoid Bonus Fact: Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons was the first review I ever wrote here, nearly six years ago now. There’s an attachment to the person you’re playing with, but that’s not really the same thing. Without that - with someone only manning a single brother - that emotional attachment is gone. I never thought the system worked particularly well, but I respect what it stands for. It’s supposed to represent the bond between the brothers. There’s a thematic harmony about it in that it’s now possible to navigate through this sorrowful story with someone who’s close to you - maybe a partner, a friend, a parent, or, yes, even a brother.īut, Brothers‘ hook is that one player controls both siblings, one on the left analog stick and one on the right. Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons is getting two-player cooperative play. The most unexpected addition to the Switch version is maybe also the most obvious.
